Bio

Shpresa Faqi is a contemporary European artist. Her works are an expression of her documentary approach, which explores how the inside affects the outside and vice versa. (...)
Her repertoire ranges from drawings to medium and large-format murals, processed found objects and industrial products to site-specific projector installations. She creates individual works as well as linked installations, mobile art projects and interactive workshops. This exhibition is kindly supported by: Kulturamt Kassel, Kassel Kultur and Nachrichtenmeisterei.
In artistic travel projects, Shpresa Faqi explores living spaces and movement from a variety of perspectives: flight and privilege, cultural encounters, and internal and external boundaries. She documents places and portrays people with drawings that become projector installations in public spaces, creating floral nail polish paintings on found hubcaps and collages from cell phone photographs meet space-related oil painting.
These works were created in England, Southeast Europe, South America, and Kassel—an artistic world tour reflected in experimental techniques and materials.
In addition to new works, there are also works on display that have received numerous grants, been exhibited, and won awards. The Zeltstadt projection won the dokFa Festival Art Award, and the driving project was funded by the H.M.W.K., the Impulse für Kassel Foundation, and the Cultural Office of Kassel.
She created installations in cooperation with the Kassler Kunstverein, Artists Unlimited, the Kollegienkirche Salzburg (A) and the H.D.L.U. in Zagreb (HR). Faqi's works have also been shown at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the National Gallery of Kosovo and the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Berlin. They will be are now on display at the Nachrichtenmeisterei.
